Wendy has always been driven by color & has pursued that fascination through many mediums. Her most recent pursuit is metal work and prior to that it was through beaded jewelry. Once she discovered metal (mainly copper), she had found her real niche! Wendy started with very simple forms and continues to challenge herself with forming more advanced shapes. She is endlessly fascinated with copper, loving the way it moves, and the colors and oxidization when it's heated. Her natural progression then was to add color to it through enameling the copper where she could achieve the vivid colors she desired.
All of Wendy’s copper work starts as a flat sheet. Each design is individually forged and formed, and sometimes pierced. Each enameled piece is then either torch or kiln fired at approximately 1400 degrees. Because each pieceof art is individually hand formed and enameled, there are no two pieces entirely identical. You can always be assured that your piece of art from Wendy Frank Designs will be like no other!
